Some Sam’s Story photoshop doodles I’ve been doing.

Sam’s Story, starring Kit Williamson, Say Jay Hynes, and Chris Greenwood.

We’ve wrapped up another round of shooting, waiting on a location to film our last scene.

This is literally my writing process.

It contemplates, and waits.  Hiveless, the final remnant of a thousand generations.  Designed, perfected by something more than nature.  A machine.  A monster.  It lives in the darkness between the stars.  Not afflicted with mercy or compassion, it understands the way of the universe. It can speak without words, remember without memories, and see your fear without eyes.

Fic: In the cold light of morning

worn-whorehouse-stairs:

He wakes up aching, blood under his fingernails. Odette holds out a glass of water as she blurs in and out of his vision.

“I don’t feel well…Charlie…”

He hasn’t heard his own voice until she kneels down and murmurs.

“I can call him if you want, boss.”

No. His pack’s not here. Odette places another bowl of water on the bed beside him and pulls his fingers into it, then she opens her little makeup bag and takes out a pointed wooden stick. Once the blood has softened, she picks it into the bowl. She doesn’t ask where he’s been, or why the bruises. She’s dealt with Richard long enough not to bother, though she wants to.

She knows far better than to touch the blackened flesh.

“The man who brought you here is still outside,” she murmurs. “Man—boy—somethin’. I offered him coffee but he says he doesn’t drink it.”

AR sits up, jarring the water and blood. He jumps up to dress.

When he comes out, Renfield is curled up in one of this chairs with his feet resting on the arm. He is trembling from head to foot. AR swallows hard. Odette bends next to the chair.

“You’re sure I can’t get you anything, honey?”

He looks at her with wide lost-animal eyes, then catches her wrist in his hand and stares wonderingly at it. AR slams the door against the wall.

“You get out.” The shout rises in his throat and he chokes on it. There will be no howling here. Renfield scuttles out, his hip hitting the wall—both catlike and clumsy. AR sits down at his desk.

“Sir…who was that?”

In her wide, blue eyes he sees-with horror, the same servile love between the creatures.

“You’re not to let him in again.”

“No sir.”

…other people writing Renfield is not something I will be over any time soon

Hey guys, I know I’m late to this party (and I’m still getting used to deciphering Tumblr), but I wanted you to know you’re in good company.

The first screenplay I ever wrote was “Renfield,” obviously about Renfield.  I wrote it when I was fourteen, and even won this nifty 2nd place award in a high school screenwriting contest.  Here’s an old pic:

I’ve been kicking around this idea for ages! I always wanted to depict Rod Serling from the Twilight Zone as full of stars, as if to say, he not only hosts the fifth dimension, he IS the fifth dimension.
I tried to paint this, making a print of it, and then I realized, oh duh, I know photoshop! So here it is.
I know there was never a 50’s clock in the opening title sequence but the ornate clock would’ve looked ridiculous.

Viscera Film Festival: Still Screaming: An Interview with Mae Catt

Interview I did with the wonderful folks at the Viscera Film Fest.

viscerafilmfest:

Mae Catt has garnered her fair share of indie cred. From her series of award-winning shorts to her work as Assistant Editor for Adam Green’s Hatchet 2, Catt has always had a fascination with monsters in all incarnations. Up next for Catt is Sam’s Story, a thoughtful look at whether a killer is…
